‘UCL plans to provide financial assistance of £5,000 to support the Master’s degree studies of 100 Indian students.’
UCL recently revealed an innovative scholarship initiative designed to facilitate the enrollment of 100 highly talented Indian students in prestigious academic programs at one of the globe’s foremost universities in the UK. This financial aid program aims to assist Indian students of exceptional academic calibre in undertaking comprehensive Master’s degree programs at UCL.
On November 21, Kirsty Walker, UCL’s Vice-President for External Engagement, and Vanita Uppal OBE, the Director of The British School New Delhi, formally inaugurated an initiative at a ceremony in India.
As stated in a UCL press release, a total of 33 scholarships will be granted to outstanding individuals who have either attained or are progressing toward achieving a first-class degree for the academic year 2024–25. An additional 67 scholarships will be bestowed over the subsequent two years.
The UCL India Excellence Scholarships extend financial support of £5 000 to potential Master’s students across various disciplines.
Dr Michael Spence, UCL’s President and Provost, expressed enthusiasm about the new and diverse opportunities, highlighting UCL’s enduring commitment to Indian students and its desire to strengthen connections with India. He emphasized the importance of Indian students within UCL’s global community and the institution’s dedication to providing additional resources and support to facilitate knowledge exchange in the UK.
According to the press release, the inaugural UCL India Summer School is scheduled from June 10 to June 14, 2024. It will feature modules delivered by five prominent UCL professors to 50 students in years 10 and 11, engaging in collaborative small-group work.
