About post-study work rights
Prior to the launch of The New Zealand Education Strategy 2018–2030, the immigration minister Iain Lees-Galloway’s has announced the expanded post-study work rights for foreign students. If you look at the post-study work policy, New Zealand has improved its position as compared to its major competitors. The country remains at the second position after Canada in terms of the work rights that people receive.
Modified agent recognition programme
New Zealand’s Chief Executive Grant McPherson has announced that ENZ’s Recognised Agency programme (ENZRA) will start again on 1 November 2018 with a refreshed training course. Mostly students coming to New Zealand for education use agents. Hence, ENZ’s aim is to ensure the qualities of agents are available to students and to provide a consistent standard of conduct.

Basically, to retain or gain recognized agency status, agents need to:

  • Undertake training
  • Follow the standard of conduct
  • Gain a point target (points are earned by agents when they refer students to study in New Zealand).

There are remarkable benefits for agents gaining Recognized Agency Status as quoted by Mr. McPherson, “Only those high-performance agencies who consistently meet our core objectives will earn the right to use the ENZRA logo.” Also, in return the ENZRA programme will strengthen the value proposition for Recognized Agencies by providing extreme support in training, local market intelligence and bespoke marketing collateral.
